PlayStation Plus members get nine new games in October. The lineup is led by Mafia: The Old Country. It also includes Horizon Forbidden West.

The games arrive in waves across the month.

Sony announced the list on October 14. Most games land on October 20. A few arrive on October 27.

One game is out today. Here is the full list in plain English.

What happened

The October Game Catalog has seven games for Extra and Premium members. It has two more games for Premium members only. That makes nine in total.

The headliner is Mafia: The Old Country. It is a prequel to the Mafia trilogy. It is set in early 1900s Sicily.

You play as Enzo Favara. You fight to earn a place in the Family. The game is a third-person action adventure.

It has a strong story and a short play time, according to GameSpot. It is a good pick for a weekend.

The second big name is Horizon Forbidden West. You play as Aloy. You cross a wild frontier full of machine beasts.

You meet new tribes. You fight a new enemy. This is a re-release.

Horizon Forbidden West left the catalog in 2024, according to Video Games Chronicle. Now it returns.

The third highlight is Mycopunk. It is a co-op shooter. You fight fungal aliens with wild weapons.

You can team up with up to three friends. You can build your loadout from hundreds of upgrades. Mycopunk joins the catalog on day one.

That means it launches straight into the service on October 20.

The rest of the Extra and Premium list fills out the month. Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 is a horror puzzle game. You go deeper into a toy factory.

You dodge scary toys. The Midnight Walk is a dark fantasy game made from real clay. You guide a small lantern creature named Potboy through five tales of fire and dark.

Tales of Arise is a long Japanese role-playing game. This version includes the Beyond the Dawn content. Monster Energy Supercross 25 is a dirt bike racing game.

It uses Unreal Engine 5 for more real physics and changing tracks.

Premium members get two classic games as well. Dino Crisis 2 is a PlayStation 1 survival horror game. You fight dinosaurs in jungles and caves.

You play as Regina and Dylan. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is a park building game. You build rides, shops, and paths.

You keep guests happy. You run the park like a business.

Why it matters

This is a strong month for the catalog. It has a new story game. It has a big open-world game.

It has a day-one co-op shooter. It has horror picks for spooky season. It has a long role-playing game.

It has a racing game. It has two retro games. That is a lot of choice for one month.

The value is clear. Mafia: The Old Country is a recent release. Horizon Forbidden West is a huge game.

Mycopunk launches day one. If you pay for Extra or Premium, you get all of them at no extra cost beyond the subscription.

The tier split matters too. Extra members get seven games. Premium members get all nine.

Premium also adds Game Trials. On October 20, Premium members can try Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Mortal Shell II for a few hours. Trials let you test a game before you buy it.

There are also extras for spooky season. PlayStation is running HorrorFest packs. The World War Z Vibrant Halloween Skin Pack arrives October 20.

It has five spooky weapons and Halloween cosmetics. Back 4 Blood players get the Tunnels of Terror DLC free from October 21 to November 4. The second and third DLC packs are 95% off in that window.

Dead by Daylight players can unlock a pack by reaching 10 million matches between October 20 and October 26.

What happens next

Mark October 20 on your calendar. That is when most of the list lands. The Midnight Walk is out already in the US and the UK.

It lands October 15 in Japan.

Do not forget the monthly games. All PlayStation Plus members can claim three games this month. The three are F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.

You have until November 2 to claim them, according to GameSpot. After that, they are gone.

On October 28, members can get a discount on the Until Dawn movie on the Sony Pictures Core app. That offer is for a limited time. You need a PlayStation 4 or 5 and a Sony Pictures Core account.

You must be 18 or older.

If you are new to PlayStation Plus, the tiers work like this. Essential is the base tier. It gives the monthly games and online play.

Extra adds the Game Catalog. Premium adds classics, trials, and streaming. This month's list is a good test of Extra.

It has seven games across many styles. If you like retro games and trials, Premium adds two more games and the new trials. Gamers on the other side of the console divide can compare with the new Xbox Nano controller.

It also launches this month. The Ocarina of Time remake is also drawing fresh attention.
