Jet2 is pulling out of La Palma completely. The airline is cancelling its Manchester route just six months after launch. It is also scrapping a planned new service from London Stansted.

What happened

Jet2 launched flights from Manchester to La Palma on April 3, 2026. The service ran twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. La Palma became the airline's fifth Canary Islands destination.

Now the route is over. The final Manchester to La Palma flight will depart on October 30, 2026. The airline will then withdraw from the island entirely.

The Stansted route never even started. It was due to launch on November 6. Jet2 has cancelled it before a single flight took off.

A Jet2 spokesperson called it a "difficult decision." The airline said it regularly reviews its flight programme based on customer demand. It did not give detailed financial reasons for the withdrawal.

The move is a blow for La Palma. The island is still rebuilding its tourism after the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption in 2021. British visitors were a key target.

Why it matters

Thousands of holidaymakers are affected. Anyone booked on the Manchester route after October 30 must change plans. Stansted customers never got to fly at all.

Jet2 says affected customers will be contacted. They can choose a full refund or rebook an alternative holiday. The airline has apologised for the disruption.

If you booked hotels or car hire separately, check those bookings too. A flight refund does not always cover the rest of your trip. Contact each provider directly.

What happens next

Travellers can still reach La Palma. TUI operates seasonal services from London Gatwick, according to reports. Always check current schedules before booking.

Jet2 will keep flying to its other Canary Islands destinations. Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura are not affected.

If you are rebooking, compare the full cost. A different airport may mean extra travel or an overnight stay. Check refund rules before you commit to new tickets.
