Tyler Huntley is why the Ravens won on Sunday night. The backup quarterback led Baltimore to a 30-23 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons. The game was played in Atlanta on October 11.

What happened

Baltimore looked beaten with 2:25 left in regulation. The Ravens were down by 8 points and had two timeouts. It took them just 1:51 to score a touchdown.

They then added a two-point conversion to tie the game.

Huntley started in place of Lamar Jackson. Jackson missed the game with an ankle injury, according to NBC Sports. He completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

In overtime, the Ravens won the coin toss and chose to receive. Huntley finished the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Atlanta then turned to Tua Tagovailoa.

He played because Penix had hurt his ribs.

Penix took a hard hit with 27 seconds left in regulation. He was listed as questionable to return. Then the Ravens defense made one more play.

Safety Kyle Hamilton intercepted Tagovailoa to end the game.

Hamilton is from Atlanta. He said about 500 people he knows were in the stands. It was his first interception since Christmas Day 2024. He called it a game Baltimore has lost many times before.

Penix finished 19 of 32 for 240 yards and one touchdown. After the game, he said he was heartbroken to sit out. "I hated that.

I hated that I couldn't get back in that game," he told the Falcons' website.

Derrick Henry powered the Ravens' run game with 102 rushing yards. He also caught an 18-yard touchdown pass. Justice Hill added 73 rushing yards, including a 47-yard run.

For Atlanta, Bijan Robinson ran for 86 yards.

Why it matters

The win moved the Ravens to 4-1 on the season. It showed Baltimore can win without its star quarterback. Huntley stayed calm in a loud road stadium.

The defense backed him up with a late interception.

The Falcons dropped to 2-3. They led for most of the game and still lost. Worse, their starting quarterback is now hurt. Atlanta may have to play a backup in its next game.

What happens next

Penix will have more imaging done on Monday. He said he does not expect the injury to keep him out long. He hopes to be ready for next week.

The Ravens travel to Cleveland in Week 6. The Falcons stay home to play the Bears. That game could now be decided by the quarterbacks.

Next week brings new tests for both teams. The Ravens get a road game against a division rival. The Falcons get a home game they cannot afford to lose.

The biggest question is Penix and his ribs.
